We’re about a week in, and many of us still aren’t used to the new schedule or the extended sun light! Don’t get us wrong, we love the sun, it’s a struggle to deal with day light savings in it’s first week.
Of course, there are the lucky few who call themselves short sleepers, that aren’t affected by day light savings. Some of us are jealous of them…
That said, here are a few tips to deal with day light savings, from around the office!
Tips to Deal With Day Light Savings
Strengthen Your Coffee
Strengthen Your Coffee
We love our coffee here at the office. Speaking for myself, I drink probably way too much of it. Thankfully, it’s helped me out along this week with the lost hour of sleep!
The thing about office coffee, however, is that it’s not the strongest (or best tasting) coffee around.
If you use coffee packets, rather than being able to add an extra scoop or three to the coffee pot, then you may not be able to make your coffee stronger.
That’s when it’s time to hit up your local coffee shop or Starbucks, ask for a triple shot of espresso, and get those teeth a-chattering with caffeine!
Just, do so responsibly! We’re not responsible for what you do with your coffee (;
Go to Bed Earlier
If you are used to staying up until 10:00pm, you may want to change that bedtime to 9:00pm. Why? Well, we’re so early in this, that staying up until 10:00 will really feel like 11:00 to your body.
Throwing off your normal sleep schedule by even the slightest amount can drastically effect your quality of sleep, so you may want to easy into the new schedule.
What About the Sun?
I’ll be the first to admit that my eyes were not prepared to deal with the massive amounts of sunlight coming through my windshield on the drive to work the next morning.
My guess is you may have been in the same boat.
If you are in real good with your boss, or have a culture of “the best idea wins,” you should bring up the need for sunglasses! Throw in how fun it would be to have custom sunglasses for the company. It might be helpful to bring up the benefits of branded items to sell him or her on the idea!
What About You?
We are a company built on the premise of, “the best idea wins.” That said, we know we’re not the only ones fighting this weird sleep thing, and you may have some remedies yourself!
